If you remember JustCall from 2016, you probably remember it as a basic cloud phone system. But JustCall does more than replace desk phones these days: it’s a unified communications suite for call centers, support teams, and help desks.
As you can imagine, this shift has impacted its price — you can’t get JustCall for $10 anymore. Plus, many of its features come with unexpected costs, not to mention hidden fees and costly upgrades to unlock them.
This guide will help you see what JustCall’s costs are — including its price plans, add-ons, and hidden fees — so you can decide whether or not it’s a fit for your budget.
What is JustCall?
JustCall is a cloud-based phone system that offers voice, messaging, and video calls. It integrates with various CRM and Help Desk tools, allowing teams to automate workflows, track interactions, and streamline customer support.
JustCall pricing and plans at a glance
JustCall offers two plans: the Base Suite for customer communications and the AI Suite for agent coaching and training.
Here’s what you can expect to pay for each:
Base Suite
Essentials
The Essentials plan starts at $19 per user per month paid annually ($29 per user per month paid monthly). It comes with all the basics you’d expect from a business phone system, including voicemail, call forwarding, and a free local number.
Unfortunately, unlimited minutes aren’t part of the package: you only get 500 outbound minutes and 1,000 inbound minutes per user per month. Even SMS messages come with limitations — you can only send 250 text segments per user per month.
Key features | What's missing |
---|---|
Free calling minutes (500 outbound and 1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month) | 98+ additional integrations |
SMS and MMS (250 segments included per user per month) | WhatsApp messaging |
Free local number | Additional numbers per account |
Voicemail | AI-powered call transcripts |
Call forwarding | Team performance analytics |
Call transfer | Toll-free numbers |
Call tracking | IVR and call menus |
Google and Slack integrations |
Team
The Team plan starts at $29 per user per month billed annually ($39 per user per month billed monthly). Just keep in mind there’s a two-user minimum, which means the lowest you can pay is $58 per month.
The Team plan unlocks automations, integrations, and analytics so you can automate your workflows and connect with the tools already in your tech stack. However, several of these features are unnecessarily limited. Call transcriptions and summaries, for example, are limited to just 60 minutes per user per month.
Key features | What's missing |
---|---|
Free calling minutes (1,000 outbound minutes and 1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month) | SMS Copilot (AI-generated messages) |
SMS and MMS (500 text segments included per user per month) | Advanced analytics and reporting |
98+ additional integrations | Live call monitoring |
Additional numbers per account | Bulk SMS |
AI-powered call transcripts | Auto dialer |
WhatsApp messaging | Intelligent call routing |
Team performance analytics | |
Toll-free numbers | |
IVR and call menus |
Pro
The Pro plan starts at $49 per user per month paid yearly ($69 per user per month billed monthly). But like the Team plan, you’re required to pay for a minimum of two users. This means the lowest you can pay is $98 per month.
With the Pro plan, you get double the text segments compared to the Team plan, although inbound and outbound minutes still cap at 1,000 minutes per user per month. Once you go over your limit, you’ll have to pay $0.02 per additional minute — which gets expensive fast as your team starts to grow.
Key features | What's missing |
---|---|
Free calling minutes (1,000 outbound minutes and 1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month) | Custom outbound minutes (1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month) |
SMS and MMS (1,000 text segments included per user per month) | Custom text segments per user per month |
SMS Copilot (AI-generated messages) | Single sign-on (SSO) |
Advanced analytics and reporting | Dedicated success manager |
Live call monitoring | Personalized onboarding |
Bulk SMS | Highest API limits |
Auto dialer - sales dialer | Service-level agreements |
Intelligent call routing | Call tags (up to three) |
Business
The Business plan is the most expensive plan in the Base Suite, although you won’t see a price point directly online. Instead, you have to contact JustCall for a customized quote. And keep in mind that you’ll have to commit to a 10-user minimum.
This plan unlocks the features most enterprise brands need, although there are unnecessary limits that will get frustrating as you grow.
For example, the Business plan unlocks call tags, but you’re limited to a max of three. Even call transcriptions and summaries still have a limit of 1,000 minutes per user.
Key features | What's missing |
---|---|
Custom outbound minutes (1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month) | Live call transcriptions |
Custom text segments per user per month | AI analytics |
Single sign-on (SSO) | Coaching comments on agents’ call transcripts |
Dedicated success manager | |
Personalized onboarding | |
Highest API limits | |
Service-level agreements | |
Call tags (up to three) |
AI Suite
Team Plus
The Team Plus plan costs $49 per user per month billed annually ($69 per user per month billed monthly). It also comes with a two-user minimum, which means you’re paying at least $98 per month.
This plan comes with several of JustCall’s core features, including analytics, voicemail, and single-level IVR. You’ll also gain access to the following AI features (as well as the same calling and texting limits you’ll see in the Base Suite).
Key features include:
- Free calling minutes (1,000 outbound and 1,000 inbound minutes included per user per month)
- SMS and MMS (500 text segments included per user month)
- AI transcripts and call summaries (1,000 minutes per user per month)
- SMS Copilot (AI-generated messages)
- Standard call moments (keyword tracking)
- Coaching comments on call transcripts
You also get the following Base Suite features:
- Analytics
- Internal chat
- Call tracking
- Voicemail
- Single-level IVR
- WhatsApp messaging
What’s missing:
- Real-time agent assist (lite version)
- Script compliance
- Multi-channel notetaker
- Call scoring (AI and manual)
- Custom and standard moments
- Sentiment analysis
Pro Plus
The Pro Plus plan (two-user minimum required) starts at $89 per user per month annually ($109 per user monthly). With it, you unlock the lite versions of more powerful AI tools, such as real-time agent assist and AI script compliance.
This plan also unlocks JustCall’s SMS bots, which can help you set up texting automations for auto-replies and FAQs. But again, you’re limited to 1,000 text segments per user per account.
Key features include:
- Real-time agent assist (lite version)
- Script compliance (lite version)
- Multi-channel notetaker
- Call scoring (AI and manual)
- Custom and standard moments
- Sentiment analysis
- 1,000 text segments included per user per month
You also get the following Base Suite features:
- Sales dialers
- Integration with Salesforce
- Queue callback
- Intelligent routing
- Advanced call analytics and reporting
What’s missing:
- Real-time agent assist (full version)
- Script compliance (full version)
- Live call transcriptions
- Multi-channel notetaker (generate action items during Google or Zoom meetings)
Business Plus
JustCall’s most expensive plan requires a custom quote and a 10-user minimum. In exchange, you’ll finally unlock the full versions of AI tools, as well as enterprise features such as SSO and SLA.
Unfortunately, no amount of upgrading unlocks unlimited inbound calls — which means you’re always limited to a max of 1,000 inbound minutes per user. You’ll still have to pay for additional minutes over the limit, plus extra for incoming calls on toll-free numbers and calls forwarded to non-JustCall numbers.
Key features include:
- Real-time agent assist (full version)
- Script compliance (full version)
- Live call transcriptions
- Multi-channel notetaker
You also get the following Base Plan features:
- Single sign-on (SSO)
- Custom outbound call and SMS bundles
- Dedicated success manager
- Personalized onboarding
- JustCall’s highest API and webhook limits
- Service-level agreement (SLA)
As you’ve seen, JustCall’s plans are significantly more expensive than the average business phone system. There are also hidden fees — some of which you can’t find unless you dive deep into their help center.
You’ll need to watch for:
- Porting fees: There’s a one-time fee of $10 per number when porting in an existing number. There’s no charge for porting out, but you do have to request this by email, which will be slow (and less than ideal) if you’re running a growing business.
- A2P 10DLC registration fees: Buried in the help center, you’ll find extra fees for SMS/MMS, depending on your campaign use case. For example, you have to pay an additional one- time $44 brand registration fee and a one-time $15 campaign registration fee. You also have to pay recurring campaign fees, which start at $10 per month for a regular campaign and $2 per month for a low-volume campaign.
- Texting limits: JustCall’s base plan is limited to 250 ‘segments’ (which are 160-character texts) per user per month. This doesn’t include messages sent via workflows in your sales dialer, bulk campaigns, or CRM automations. As you’ve seen, you can’t get unlimited SMS on any plan unless you upgrade to Business or Business Plus, which costs more than $50 per user per month. Plus, every text segment over your limit incurs an additional cost ($0.0086 per inbound SMS and $0.008625 per outbound SMS). Keep in mind you can only send local SMS, not international texts. And if you’re a customer located in the UK or Australia, you may need to pay extra to unlock texting for your team.
- Outbound calling limits: Outbound calling minutes with JustCall are capped at 500 minutes per user on the base plan, then 1,000 minutes per user on the two higher plans. If you go beyond this, you’ll need to pay an additional $0.0138 per minute for outbound local or toll-free calls. If you’re a UK or Australian customer, you have to contact sales to purchase outbound minutes for mobile phones.
- Inbound calling limits: No matter which plan you get with JustCall, you’re capped at 1,000 inbound minutes per user per month. This translates to roughly 16 hours of call time per user, which if you’re a sales team or contact center, is almost certainly not enough.
- Toll-free calling: Inbound calling with JustCall excludes toll-free minutes, so be prepared to pay extra if you have a toll-free number. You’ll also need to upgrade to the Team plan just to access toll-free numbers — which isn’t the norm for most VoIP providers.
- Unanswered calls: Unlike other business phone systems, you’ll pay an extra $0.0027 per unanswered call. This represents JustCall’s airtime charge, which, compared to other providers, is an unnecessary expense.
- Call transcription and summary: JustCall locks its transcription and summary features behind multiple (frustrating) paywalls. First, you’re required to upgrade to the Team plan to access call transcripts, and you’ll get capped at 60 minutes per user per month. If you upgrade to the Pro plan, you’ll get 120 minutes per user, and even upgrading to the Business plan only gives you 1,000 minutes per user. You can’t get unlimited call transcription minutes on any plan — which means once your quota is used up, any extra minutes are charged at $0.025 per minute on a per-month, as-used basis.
5 things to keep in mind before committing to JustCall
Here are a few more reasons to consider JustCall alternatives:
1. Key features locked behind costly upgrades
JustCall offers bare-bones features on its basic plan, which may not be enough for your growing business. However, unlocking new features requires multiple upgrades, which could get costly as your team grows.
For example:
- Integrations with your CRM and help desk tools (like HubSpot, Zendesk, or Pipedrive) are only available if you upgrade to the second-tier, Team
- The Salesforce integration requires upgrading to the third-tier, Pro
- Automations for SMS workflows, such as auto-replies require an upgrade to Pro
- Team analytics require an upgrade to Team, and reporting tools require an upgrade to Pro
- Bulk messaging requires an upgrade to Pro
Considering that each upgrade comes with a two-user minimum, you might feel forced to upgrade before your team is ready.
2. Reviewers cite inconsistent call quality
JustCall’s uptime isn’t 100% reliable, as multiple users have pointed out. Some reviewers report poor call quality even with strong internet connections, while others warn of crashes and bugs affecting the mobile app.
See for yourself in multiple JustCall reviews:
- “There have been instances where our call quality was inconsistent, especially during peak hours, which can be disruptive for customer communications.” — G2
- “Our software occasionally experiences bugs, such as preventing our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) from answering calls or causing calls to drop unexpectedly. These issues can disrupt our service and create inconvenience for both our team and our customers.” — G2
- “One downside of JustCall is that calls occasionally drop when being transferred between team members. Additionally, there are some minor glitches in the interface that can be disruptive.” — G2
3. Hard to team up on communications
Most of JustCall’s plans require a two-user minimum, which is ironic considering its lack of collaboration features.
Right away, the base plan limits your ability to collaborate by only allowing one phone number per account. You’ll need to upgrade to the Team plan to purchase additional phone numbers.
Even if you do upgrade for collaboration features, you might be unimpressed by what you get. You can access a shared email inbox and a shared WhatsApp inbox, but you won’t find a unified inbox for calls and texts.
4. Canceling may be complicated
Once you sign up for a JustCall plan, it might be hard to cancel it quickly.
First, you have to email the JustCall team, which, as you can imagine, can be a slow and tedious process.
Plus, customer support is entirely dependent on your plan. Chat and email are available 24 hours a day, five days a week, but you have to upgrade to the highest Business plan for 24/7 support.
You should also know that ‘priority support’ is only available for Business and Pro customers. This means it could take weeks to cancel your plan, which isn’t ideal if you’re trying to port out your number.
5. International calls can be expensive
Trying to reach international customers with JustCall? You might be surprised how expensive this gets.
For one thing, international calling is a separate service. You’ll also have to buy an international number first.
Plus, the price you pay varies by the recipient’s country, provider, and number type. This means it’s almost impossible to predict your monthly bills until after they happen.
Speaking of prices, you should know international calls aren’t included in JustCall’s outbound minute packages. And considering you can’t even send texts to international numbers, connecting with clients across the world could be expensive and confusing.
OpenPhone: A more effective alternative to JustCall
For enterprise teams needing click-to-call dialers, JustCall’s features may match the price. But for growing small businesses needing functionality over flash, these plans might be expensive and difficult to scale.
The good news is JustCall is the exception to the rule — other VoIP systems are better suited to help you scale. For thousands of small business owners, that’s what makes OpenPhone the best JustCall alternative. Our platform was designed to help you grow, not just tread water.

1. Transparent pricing
OpenPhone’s pricing plans start at $15 per user per month, with all add-ons, upgrades, and fees listed on our pricing page. We don’t require user minimums on any plan, which means it’s easy to upgrade when you’re ready.
Need to purchase additional numbers? It’s just $5 per number per month (even for toll-free numbers), regardless of the number of users on your account.
Unsubscribing is easy, too, with an OpenPhone account. If you ever need to cancel, you can do so in the app.
2. Unlimited calls and texts
Your personal phone plan probably comes with unlimited talk and text. So why settle for a business phone plan that’s inadequate?
That’s why every OpenPhone plan comes with unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada. And when you need to make international calls, check the prices on our rates page.
3. Wallet-friendly AI and automation tools
JustCall offers plenty of AI and automation features — provided you’re willing to pay for them. With OpenPhone, you can access all the workflow tools your business needs on our Business plan for just $23 per user per month.
With our automations, you can:
- Tap into snippets, which help you answer FAQs and standardize information for your team
- Schedule outbound messages that are sent in your customer’s time zone(s)
- Queue up customized auto-replies so you can respond to every missed conversation
It gets even more exciting when you look at our AI features:
- AI-generated message responses help you brainstorm replies in a pinch
- AI call summaries suggest action items so nothing falls through the cracks
- AI transcripts can turn phone calls into skimmable documents (unlike on JustCall, transcripts are 100% unlimited)
And we have direct integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, webhooks, and Zapier so you can sync customer interactions with the tools you’re already using.
4. Easy to work together as a team
OpenPhone was built by teams, for teams, as you can see in our collaboration features. It’s simple and easy to set up a shared number and inbox for everyone on your account, then use ring groups and simultaneous ring to send callers to the right place.
Need to forward a caller to another coworker? Our warm transfer feature will make this simple since you’ll never need to ask for the same information twice.
You can also tap into threads and mentions to delegate work to your team. If you need to leave extra context, use our custom contact properties to drop a note (or three).
Pros and cons of JustCall pricing plans
JustCall works well as an enterprise communication platform. However, growing small businesses might find it overwhelming and expensive.
Pros:
- Free local number: Keep in mind you need to upgrade to the second-tier plan if you want more than one number per account.
- Third-party integrations: You can easily connect with the tools you already use.
- Bulk SMS messaging: This is well-suited for teams that send large volumes of text messages.
Cons:
- No unlimited calls and texts: You’ll also pay extra for toll-free minutes and forwarded calls.
- Sneaky hidden fees: Many of these are hidden in the company’s help docs.
- Poor scalability: Between user minimums and key features locked behind upgrades, you might have to upgrade multiple times for the features you need.
- AI features locked behind upgrades: These are only accessible on AI Suite plans, which start at $49 per user per month with a two-user minimum.
See why OpenPhone is the best virtual phone service provider
If you’re an enterprise brand, JustCall may not be a bad option. But if you’re a growing small business, its paywalled features and sky-high prices probably aren’t a fit.
The good news is that you don’t have to choose between great features and great prices with OpenPhone — which is one of the reasons we’re rated the #1 small business phone system on G2.
With OpenPhone’s Starter plan, you can make unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada. You can also set up shared phone numbers, texting automations, and toll-free numbers.
