MightyCall pricing and plans (+ fees and limitations)

MightyCall pricing

When MightyCall rebranded in 2013, it offered VoIP services tailored to entrepreneurs and solopreneurs. Though initially known for its ‘free forever’ plan, MightyCall’s focus has shifted to call centers and support teams.

Today, MightyCall offers enterprise-level features, but only if you’re willing to pay for them. Considering every plan requires at least three user seats, it’s clear that small and growing businesses are no longer its target audience.

If you’re wondering how much you’ll have to pay for a MightyCall plan, you can use this guide to add up the costs.

TL;DR

MightyCall isn’t the best choice for small businesses because it lacks transparent pricing, doesn’t have reliable service, and comes with unnecessary limits that force you to upgrade.

What is MightyCall?

MightyCall app

MightyCall is an automated call center solution designed for support teams, help desks, and enterprise brands (think education institutions and logistics companies). It also offers advanced calling capabilities such as live call monitoring, predictive dialers, and supervisor workspaces — as well as standard VoIP features like IVR and call queues.

MightyCall pricing and plans at a glance

MightyCall offers four plans to small business owners. Its first three plans require a three-user minimum, and the Enterprise plan has a five-user minimum.

Let’s break it down:

MightyCall pricing and plans

Core

The Core plan starts at $15 per user per month billed annually ($20 per user per month billed monthly). With the three-user minimum, the lowest you’ll pay is $45 per month.

This plan unlocks the basic features you’d expect from a business communication platform. You get three business phone numbers, caller ID, and unlimited calls in the US and Canada.

Unfortunately, these so-called ‘unlimited minutes’ are subject to the Fair Use Policy. You have a limit of 15,000 pooled outbound and inbound call minutes and 2,000 pooled text messages per account per month.

In other words, you may have to refill minutes after exceeding 250 hours of call activity per month — which is not ideal for growing small businesses.

Pro

It costs $23 per user per month billed annually($30 per user per month billed monthly) to unlock MightyCall’s Pro plan. This tier also requires a three-user minimum, so the least you’ll pay is $69 per month.

With the Pro plan, you can unlock agent supervision tools such as advanced reports, call management features, and the supervisor workplace. But while it raises your limit on inbound and outbound calling (100,000 minutes), it doesn’t raise your limits on texting (2,000 messages).

Keep in mind you won’t have access to MightyCall’s dialer tools or priority support on this plan.

Power

For $30 per user per month billed annually ($40 per user per month billed monthly), you can tap into MightyCall’s power dialing tools: the preview and progressive dialer. With the three-user minimum, you’ll pay a minimum of $90 per month.

These advanced call features may be useful for some call centers, but they’re probably not necessary for growing small businesses. At least you can access priority support — which some reviewers say isn’t much faster than traditional support (more on this later).

Enterprise

MightyCall’s most expensive plan costs $50 per user per month, regardless of whether you pay annually or monthly. You’re also required to pay for a five-user minimum, which comes out to a minimum of $250 per month.

The Enterprise plan lets you tap into MightyCall’s predictive dialer, SIP trunking support, and custom integrations. However, no amount of upgrading unlocks the features small businesses really need, including unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada.

Hidden fees to know

Most of these hidden fees aren’t listed on MightyCall’s pricing page, but you’ll still need to keep them in mind:

  • Carrier registration fees:  MightyCall requires a three-month campaign commitment upfront, so you’ll need to pay three months of fees before your plan switches to month-to-month pricing. These are $1.50 per month for low-volume campaigns or $10 per month for high-volume campaigns (more than 15,000 messages per month).
  • International calling: Calls to and from phone numbers outside the United States and Canada are considered ‘international calls.’ For this reason, you’ll have to pay international calling fees even if you’re using an international number domestically. What about purchasing international numbers from MightyCall? It’ll cost you an extra $10 per number per month.
  • User minimums: Every MightyCall plan requires a three to five-user minimum, which means it’s more expensive than what you’d think at first glance. The least you can pay for the Core plan is $45 per month for three users— even if you’re a solopreneur.

4 things to keep in mind before committing to MightyCall

Here are a few more reasons to consider MightyCall alternatives:

1. Bare-bones texting features

While it’s supposedly built for call centers and support teams, MightyCall’s platform doesn’t offer a unified inbox for calls and texts. This means everyone on your team has to dig around for context or make educated guesses about past conversations.

MightyCall also doesn’t offer advanced texting functionality, which means you can’t tap into time-saving tools like SMS auto-replies, text message templates, or AI-generated message responses

This makes sense since MightyCall is a feature-heavy platform for calling. But if you regularly text your customers, you might want to look for an alternative VoIP service.

2. Limits for calls and recordings

MightyCall has strict limits on the number of phone calls and call recordings you can make.

For example:

  • Call recordings are automatically removed after one year.
  • Phone calls are limited to 90 minutes max.
  • You can only have up to 20 users per call group.
  • Every extension on your plan has a limit of 500 stored voicemails — and each voicemail has a length cap of three minutes.

The most frustrating limitation?

No unlimited minutes.

According to its Fair Use Policy, MightyCall only offers 15,000 minutes of inbound and outbound voice minutes per month on the Core plan and 100,000 minutes on the Pro and Power Plan.

3. Reliability issues

Many past users say MightyCall isn’t the most reliable VoIP phone system.

For starters, reviewers cite call drops and glitches during app setup. It could also take weeks (yes, weeks) for customer support to respond.

Take a look:

  • “The customer support for the software is terrible. I emailed them about questions on the software and it took them 2 weeks to respond, and then the response was very vague. I understand that the company is based in Prague, however, customer service was way below par. I would [have] gone with a competitor’s company if I knew that I could not reach customer service in a timely manner.” GetApp

4. Limits on the trial period

It’s not easy to test MightyCall with everyone on your team.

With its seven-day trial, you only get:

  • Three trial phone numbers
  • Three user seats
  • 100 minutes for both inbound and outbound calls
  • Five SMS messages and five MMS messages

Considering most VoIP providers let you take the free trial with unlimited minutes, messages, and team members, it’s much more difficult to try MightyCall before you buy (or at least make an informed decision).

OpenPhone: A more effective alternative to MightyCall

MightyCall was designed to make certain workflows more efficient, but it falls short in several areas. The good news is there are MightyCall alternatives specifically designed for growing teams. That’s exactly why we built OpenPhone — and how we’ve become the #1 business phone solution for small businesses.

1. Affordable pricing plans

OpenPhone pricing

OpenPhone’s pricing has nothing to hide — not even user minimums. No matter how many teammates you have on your plan, you can tap into features designed to grow alongside your business.

Our three simple plans speak for themselves:

  • Starter: $15 per user per month for truly unlimited calling and messaging in the US and Canada, toll-free numbers and minutes, shared numbers with up to 10 users, and some of the highest call quality in the industry
  • Business: $23 per user per month for CRM integrations, analytics and reporting, OpenPhone AI tools, shared numbers with unlimited users, and more
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing for audit logs, priority support, and a dedicated account manager

We also don’t charge you any hidden fees: everything you need to know is listed on the pricing page. Even our international rates are transparently listed so there are never any surprises at the end of the month.

2. Team up on communication with shared numbers

OpenPhone typing notifications

Startups and small businesses can’t afford to work in silos — which is why OpenPhone offers shared phone numbers to keep everyone in the loop. Each member of the number gets notified of incoming calls and texts, which means there’s always someone around to pick up the phone.

Shared numbers can help your team stay connected from anywhere. You can add custom contact notes, write internal comments, and tag individual team members to delegate tasks.

So, what if you’ve picked up the phone and you’re not the best person to answer? With a warm transfer, you can easily hand off the call to your teammate. You also don’t have to ask the customer to repeat themselves, which creates a better experience.

3. Clear insights into your team’s performance

OpenPhone analytics

MightyCall forces you to upgrade to its Pro plan for its best supervision features, including advanced analytics and the supervisor workspace. With OpenPhone, analytics are available in our Business plan, which doesn’t require a minimum number of users. You can instantly review the real-time breakdown of calls received, messages answered, and who did what during the day.

We also offer AI tools you can use to stay in the loop. With call transcripts and summaries, for example, you can quickly review calls and get a list of action steps.

Worried about accidentally doubling up on work? This isn’t a problem with OpenPhone. You can see who sent what messages, made which calls, or picked up the phone on specific contact threads.

4. Easy to scale as your team grows

Invite team members OpenPhone

If you’re growing your team with MightyCall, you’ll need to prepare for higher costs. The same isn’t true for OpenPhone users — it’s easy to scale without bloating your budget.

For example, each member of your plan comes with their own local or toll-free number.Want additional local numbers? We’ve got you covered. Each starts at $5 per month.

You can also put custom ring settings on each number to adapt OpenPhone to your specific needs. This includes call routing based on team members’  business hours, simultaneous ring, or  round-robin, so callers get routed to the right place fast.

And remember: there are no user minimums on any of our plans. You’re free to scale up (or down) however your business needs.

5. Save time texting

Auto-replies OpenPhone

OpenPhone was built for businesses that want a human touch in their conversations. That said, we still make it easy to automate workflows so you can spend more time focusing on important conversations.

For example:

  • You can use scheduled messages to queue up texts in your customers’ time zones. That way, you always send messages during business hours and leave the right impression.
  • AI-generated message suggestions can help you brainstorm responses in a pinch. You’ll spend less time struggling with writer’s block and more time composing messages on the fly.
  • You can also set up auto-replies that address every missed call, text, or voicemail on a specific number. This allows you to immediately set expectations even while clocked out for the weekend.

Pros and cons of MightyCall pricing plans

For mid-sized businesses that want to automate calls with advanced features, MightyCall may be a good option. But for growing small businesses that need a scalable business phone system, it’s likely not a good fit.

Pros:

  • International phone numbers: International numbers are available for $10 per number per month.
  • Supervisor workspace: This may help established teams that require detailed analytics.
  • Auto dialer: You can automate initiating customer conversations and maximize your time spent on the phone.

Cons:

  • No truly unlimited minutes: Calls and texts are pooled for everyone on your account.
  • Call quality issues: Many users complain of choppy calls, delivery issues, and technical hiccups.
  • User minimums: Every plan comes with a three-user minimum except for the Enterprise plan (which has a five-user minimum).
  • Limited free trial: It’s not easy to test MightyCall with only three user seats, a max of 100 calling minutes, and five SMS/MMS messages.
