Can I set call forwarding remotely?

Traditional call forwarding requires you to manually configure the call forwarding from your primary number, like a landline.

Remote call forwarding enables you to remotely set up forwarding from your primary number from any telephone.

However, with virtual phone numbers, like those provided by OpenPhone, there’s no difference between the two since VoIP call forwarding can be set up from any device, even a computer.

How do I set up remote call forwarding with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile?

To set up remote call forwarding with AT&T, you’ll need your special access number and PIN. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Dial your assigned special access number.
  2. Dial your 7 or 10-digit home phone number.
  3. Enter your pin.
  4. Press 72#.
  5. Dial the forward-to number (make sure to include 1+ area code, if required).
  6. Follow the voice instructions.

Unfortunately, remote call forwarding isn’t available for Verizon and T-Mobile.
